My Light and Salvation

My Light and Salvation

A powerful truth is found in Psalm 27:1-2.  The passage begins with the declaration of David that His Lord is “my light and my salvation.”

Often we think of light as simply illuminating the darkness.  This is certainly true so let’s apply this to our lives.  What is it that is dark in your life?  Is it that you simply don’t have the answers to questions, you don’t know where to turn?  Your relationships are dark and gloomy?

God’s truth here is that He, the Lord, will be our light!  He will bring clarity and life to all that is confused, cold and corrupt.  The Biblical meaning of this word includes not only the traditional way we think of light but also  “the light of PROSPERITY” “the light of FACE!”  Right here in this passage God promises that He will bring light on how to prosper and give us a happy face.

Then God promises that He will be our salvation.  We think of salvation as being rescued.  As we think deeper upon this word salvation it means our deliverance, our safety, our victory and PROSPERITY!  Once again we see that this passage promises that God will be our prosperity.

What is prosperity in the context of our discussion today?  It is bringing abundance to the places in our lives that are dark.  Bringing abundance to places that need truth and clarity.  Bringing abundance of direction and guidance to our lives so we will not be confused. Bringing an abundance of warmth to relationships and situations that have grown cold. Bringing an abundance of deliverance to areas of our lives that are corrupt!

God promises to bring abundance/prosperity to us so that we will not be in fear.  God, through the blood of Jesus, is our light and salvation.  So what is our part?  Ask Jesus to be the Lord of our lives then DECLARE as the Psalmist David the truths we have discovered today!
